Yesterday morning as I set out for a walk with my four legged pal, I noticed a huge rainbow over our town and again this morning, there were views of a double rainbow over our area.
No matter where you find yourself His promises for your life are still there, in abundant measure.
It reminds me of the lyrics of a song my husband wrote “you are good beyond all measure”.
A rainbow cannot be measured.
Nor can His goodness.
It is abundant, lavish, unlimited, overwhelming, infinite, extravagant … immeasurably MORE!
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJV
I love this verse and I am so very grateful for the exceeding abundance and immeasurably more He has done in my life and in the lives of others. But this morning my attention was drawn to the preceding verses …
“And I pray that he would unveil within you the unlimited riches of his glory and favour until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with his divine might and explosive power. Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life. Then you will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences—the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!” Ephesians 3:16-19 TPT
At this time of year it is so easy to feel both inundated and drained by the pressure of Christmas shopping and to do lists rather than feeling flooded by “supernatural strength”. I know I do!
So this morning I am very grateful for the double rainbow reminder of His promises of His provision and His rest for today, this week, this season. And these promises are for each of us.
Let’s take a selah moment to pause and think of His words for these moments.
The resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life.
In the midst of the pressure and panic we are tempted to feel in the build up to Christmas, let’s spend some time in THE RESTING PLACE OF HIS LOVE.
the “great magnitude” of His love
the “astonishing love of Christ”
His “deeply intimate and far-reaching” love
His “enduring and inclusive” love
His “endless love beyond measurement” and “understanding”
His “extravagant love”
May the resting place of his love become the very source (fountain, wellspring, starting point) and root (basis, centre, foundation, essence) of our lives.
And like Paul in Ephesians 3, today I pray
“that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:16-19 NLT
May His extravagant love pour into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God! Ephesians 3:19 TPT
